The Issue of Social Issues in the United States

The Issue of Social Issues in the United StatesSocial issues are a hot topic these days and many people are really bothered about the whole issue. And it is not just the issue of public morality, but also the issue of healthcare, education, and housing for the poor. You might think that I am talking nonsense because it is well-known that I am not, but that's what has caused this major debate in America.A rather interesting news item appeared in the New York Times a couple of years ago. On that day, the American Bar Association had declared that it would not advise the American Psychiatric Association to support same sex marriage. The New York Times referred to the association as the 'psychiatric association' because, with one stroke, the whole debate about homosexuality finally dissolved into nothingness. Now we must understand that this debate was about the issue of marriage and gay marriage. It was not about some discussion about children. Even though there have been countless peopl e who have testified in support of same sex marriage, they have had no problem taking care of their children. It was not even about immigration, global warming, or terrorism, or even other international problems. It was not about the economy. It was about two men choosing to spend the rest of their lives together, which does not seem so strange to most of us these days. One question is still in the air - do gay couples have children? This is a totally different thing altogether. It is not uncommon for heterosexual couples to adopt, so why not same sex couples? If one of the members of the group does not agree with the declaration made by the other, then it would be their right to quit and choose another country's values instead. And since they refuse to resign, then what the hell do they expect to get out of this silly matter? Now I am not against any of the social issues, but I am totally against same sex marriage. It is completely unnecessary and even offensive to me. Why should any p erson have to commit to a union that no one can provide for them? There is no reason for a couple to choose which society they want to be part of, when a minority of gay people have chosen to make it possible for all of us. It is simply absurd. As for the ABA, and their declaration that they will not encourage their colleagues to support same sex marriage, that is a bold stand, but it is one that no one should ignore because people like them have always been the ones who were in the way.
